The Opportunity:
Our client is a rapidly growing, private equity-backed manufacturing organization with a global footprint and a portfolio built through strategic acquisitions. As the company continues to scale, it is seeking a Vice President of Information Technology to lead the modernization of its enterprise technology environment and build a platform capable of supporting long-term growth and operational excellence. This role will be based in either Maryland or Virginia.
Reporting directly to the CEO and partnering closely with executive leadership and the private equity sponsor, the VP of IT will play a critical role in transforming a fragmented technology landscape into a scalable, efficient, and secure enterprise infrastructure.
This leader will drive enterprise-wide initiatives including ERP consolidation, systems integration across acquired businesses, cybersecurity maturity, governance frameworks, and data enablement. The mandate is both strategic and operational — aligning technology with business outcomes while building the foundation for IPO-level reporting, governance, and scalability.
This is an opportunity for a business-minded technology executive who thrives in high-growth environments and understands how to leverage IT as a driver of operational performance, margin expansion, and enterprise value creation.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead the transformation and modernization of a complex, multi-platform IT environment, consolidating systems across business units and acquired entities to create a scalable and cost-efficient enterprise technology foundation.
- Develop and execute a 3–5 year enterprise technology roadmap aligned with the organization’s strategic growth and value creation objectives.
- Drive ERP and enterprise application consolidation, establishing standardized platforms across finance, supply chain, and manufacturing while improving data consistency and reducing technical debt.
- Design and implement repeatable IT integration playbooks to support ongoing M&A activity, enabling rapid technology assessments and efficient integration of acquired businesses.
- Build and strengthen IT governance, internal controls, and compliance frameworks that support audit readiness, SOX compliance, and public-company level reporting standards.
- Establish and lead a robust enterprise cybersecurity program, including risk management practices, penetration testing, and protection of operational technology environments from cyber threats.
- Implement scalable data and analytics capabilities that provide real-time visibility into manufacturing operations, supply chain performance, financial metrics, and executive-level KPIs.
- Standardize and improve plant technology environments, including MES, SCADA, and automation systems, while supporting operational uptime, system reliability, and Industry 4.0 initiatives where appropriate.
- Build and lead a high-performing global IT organization, establishing clear performance metrics, service delivery standards, and strong cross-functional collaboration across the business.
- Manage and optimize a multi-million-dollar global IT budget, ensuring disciplined capital allocation, measurable ROI on technology investments, and alignment with broader margin expansion and operational efficiency goals.
- Present technology strategy, investment priorities, and progress updates to executive leadership and private equity stakeholders.
What You'll Need To Be Successful:
- 15+ years of progressive experience in information technology, including at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role guiding enterprise technology strategy, teams, and large-scale initiatives.
- Demonstrated success operating in private equity-backed, high-growth, or transformation-focused environments.
- Proven experience leading ERP consolidation and enterprise platform standardization across multiple business units or acquired entities.
- Strong track record driving technology integration during M&A activity, including post-acquisition systems alignment and synergy realization.
- Experience building technology environments that support IPO readiness, public-company governance, or similar regulatory and reporting standards.
- Deep expertise in cybersecurity, enterprise risk management, and IT governance frameworks.
- Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing or industrial environments, including exposure to operational technology systems.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing large IT budgets and delivering measurable ROI on technology investments.
- Executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively with C-suite leaders, boards, and private equity stakeholders.
- Experience with enterprise ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics and familiarity with SOX compliance frameworks is strongly preferred.
