Position Overview
The General Construction Worker supports residential renovation projects by performing a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled construction tasks. This role is responsible for assisting in the demolition, repair, installation, and finishing of home improvement projects while maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety, and professionalism. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team to complete projects efficiently and to client expectations.
General Construction Workers play a key role in transforming residential spaces by following project plans, supporting lead tradespeople, maintaining job site cleanliness, and ensuring work is completed according to company standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Completes daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure job timelines are met.
- Maintain a professional, positive work environment and set the tone for jobsite culture.
- Conduct on-site problem-solving and adjust plans as needed.
Quality Control
- Ensure all work meets company standards for craftsmanship and safety.
- Perform regular inspections and walk-throughs to verify quality.
- Report concerns or rework needs to the Project Manager immediately.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Coordinate material deliveries, and equipment needs
- Communicate daily with Project Manager about progress, delays, or upcoming needs.
Safety Oversight
- Enforce all OSHA, company, and jobsite safety rules.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and hazard-free worksite.
Client Interaction
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients.
- Maintain professional communication and provide updates as appropriate.
- Address minor concerns on-site and escalate larger issues to the Project Manager.
Documentation & Reporting
- Track materials used, time spent, and progress made each day.
- Take before-and-after photos and upload documentation as required.
- Complete daily job logs and submit reports to the office or Project Manager.
Equipment & Materials
- Ensure tools and equipment are used safely, well-maintained, and returned to inventory.
- Manage material quantities on-site and request additional supplies in advance.
- Prevent waste and maintain accountability for company property.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in construction, remodeling, or a related field.
- Previous leadership or crew-lead experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry, framing, drywall, flooring, painting, and general trades.
- Ability to read blueprints, plans, and job specifications.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor as needed.
