Job Summary For Sr. Information Systems Specialist (D.C Area)

Design and Architect Data Center Infrastructure:
Lead design of power, cooling, network, storage, and compute systems
Develop technical specifications for builds and expansions
Select hardware/software based on business needs and TCO
Ensure redundancy and disaster recovery for business continuity
Design scalable network topologies
Strategic Planning:
Create long-term data center capacity and growth roadmaps
Develop hybrid/multi-cloud integration strategies
Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies
Set infrastructure standardization protocols
Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis
Lead technology refresh and modernization initiatives
System Optimization:
Analyze and optimize performance, utilization, and energy efficiency
Implement power and cooling optimization solutions
Establish monitoring systems and capacity planning processes
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure alignment with industry standards (ANSI/TIA-942, BICSI, etc.)
Maintain regulatory compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOX)
Develop physical security and environmental safety protocols
Maintain documentation for audit and compliance
Collaboration and Leadership:
Coordinate with IT, facilities, vendors, and stakeholders
Guide and mentor junior staff
Present technical concepts to executives
Collaborate with procurement for vendor/contract optimization
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or related field
7+ years’ experience in data center infrastructure design/management
Expertise in power, cooling, cabling, rack, and hybrid cloud systems
Familiarity with virtualization, networking, compliance, capacity planning
Project management experience in large infrastructure projects
Preferred: Data center and cloud certifications, DCIM tools, automation, energy-efficient design, and financial acumen
Work Details:
Hybrid role in Washington, DC (local candidates only)
