The Sr. Manager, Industrial Engineering directs and manages the Industrial Engineering function, with responsibility for process optimization, labor efficiency, and operational performance across distribution and manufacturing environments. Leads strategic planning, project execution, and continuous improvement initiatives, while actively contributing as a working manager. Ensures the successful implementation of engineering solutions that enhance productivity, reduce costs, and maintain compliance with quality and operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Drive the strategic direction of Industrial Engineering initiatives, aligning process improvements with organizational goals.
- Serve as a key liaison between CTDI’s technical teams, operations, and customers to ensure alignment on requirements and deliverables.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Provide regular updates to senior and executive leadership on project status, risks, and performance outcomes.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Operations, IT, and Finance to execute initiatives and drive measurable business impact.
Industrial Engineering Responsibilities
- Evaluate warehouse and manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
- Design and implement optimized workflows, material flow, and layout improvements to increase throughput and reduce lead times.
- Conduct time studies (cycle time, takt time) to establish labor standards and improve productivity.
- Develop labor models and capacity plans to optimize staffing, throughput, and cost efficiency.
- Analyze and improve warehouse space utilization, including storage density, layout, and inventory flow.
- Leverage data analysis and modeling to validate process changes and support decision-making.
- Develop and present data-driven recommendations, including quantified impact (labor, cost, throughput).
- Assess and recommend packaging changes based on customer product updates, including operational and handling impacts.
- Identify and deploy automation solutions to improve processes (e.g., kitting, shipping, material handling).
- Lead implementation of process improvements, ensuring adoption, execution, and sustained performance.
- Define, track, and report key operational KPIs (e.g., UPH, utilization, cycle time, inventory accuracy).
- Partner with Finance team to develop ROI analyses, capital justification and cost-benefit models.
- Deliver executive-level presentations to communicate strategy, progress, and results.
Required Skills and Experience
- 12+ years of progressive hands-on engineering experience.
- 8-10 years of experience in distribution, warehouse engineering, or manufacturing process design.
- 5+ years of recent experience leading engineering initiatives and cross-functional projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and adapt in a dynamic environment, effectively managing shifting priorities and evolving operational and customer needs.
- Proven track record of building strong relationships and driving collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex technical and non-technical problems and implement effective solutions.
- Advanced proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, with the ability to manage resources, timelines, and deliverables.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence, inspire, and motivate teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel*, Outlook, Teams, Access, and Project).Ability to align engineering initiatives with broader business objectives and strategic priorities.
- Demonstrated success in mentoring and developing engineering talent.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
Industrial Engineering – Required Skills and Experience
- Strong experience in workflow optimization, time studies, and continuous process improvement.
- Experience developing labor standards, staffing models, and capacity planning.
- Advanced data analysis skills, including advanced Excel proficiency.
- Experience leveraging automation to improve warehouse operations (e.g., kitting, shipping, material handling).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or digital control systems.
- Proven ability to translate data into actionable insights, drive implementation, and effectively communicate outcomes to executive leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change and gain buy-in across all levels of the organization; experience with change management required.
Industrial Engineering Preferred Skills & Experience
- SQL, Python, or BI tools preferred
Educational Requirements
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or a related field of science
