Chemical/Materials Engineer – Production & R&D

Tetramer is seeking a motivated early-career Chemical or Materials Engineer to join our team in a hybrid production and research role. This position is designed for a high-performing early-career who wants hands-on experience across the full materials development lifecycle — from lab-scale synthesis to pilot-scale production. In the near term, this role will focus on supporting manufacturing operations and ensuring production quality; over time, it will evolve into a dedicated R&D or engineering function as the individual develops familiarity with Tetramer's programs and processes.
Responsibilities
Production Operations
Operate and monitor laboratory and pilot-scale equipment including reactors, pumps, filtration systems,and related instrumentation
Prepare, measure, and mix chemical formulations according to precise specifications and safetyprotocols
Monitor process parameters, respond to deviations, and maintain adherence to operating standards
Perform routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs
Collect, record, and analyze process samples; adjust parameters as needed to meet production goals
Maintain accurate and detailed records of processes, equipment performance, and experimental results
Support process scale-up activities and assist in developing or refining standard operating procedures
Quality & Safety
Participate in and contribute to Tetramer's safety program and quality management systems
Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, and company safety requirements
Wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) in all laboratory and productionareas
Research & Development (Near-Term and Growing)
Assist in the design and execution of experiments to develop and characterize advanced materials
Analyze and interpret data to draw conclusions and recommend process or formulation improvements
Collaborate with multidisciplinary R&D and engineering teams on active programs
Contribute to technical documentation, reports, and internal presentations
Qualifications - Required
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related field
Strong foundation in chemical process fundamentals, thermodynamics, mass/energy balances, ormaterials characterization
Ability to work hands-on in a lab and production environment, including standing for extended periodsand lifting up to 60 lbs
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred
Internship, co-op, or research experience in a laboratory or manufacturing setting
Familiarity with batch processing, scale-up principles, or materials characterization techniques
Experience or coursework in advanced materials, coatings, polymers, composites, or related areas
Exposure to ISO quality management systems or regulated production environments
Experience with safety and regulatory compliance, such as hazardous waste management, OSHAstandards, EPA regulations, or similar frameworks; relevant certifications (e.g., HAZWOPER, OSHA10/30) are a plus

Physical Demands & Work Environment This position involves working in laboratory and pilot-scale production environments. In this role, the employee will interact with materials that may generate fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Use of Proper PPE — including lab coat, safety glasses, gloves, and, when required, face shield or respirator — is mandatory in production areas. The role requires the ability to work 8-hr shifts, stand for extended periods, and occasionally work outside of standard scheduled hours to meet operational needs.
