Job Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance to all customer, drawing, and specification requirements. This individual will drive quality improvement both internally within Rhinestahl and externally with our customers and supply base. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for using their experiences, expertise, and manufacturing knowledge to solve problems, and develop and execute objectives to meet operational and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate Material Review Board documentation and recommending solutions.
- Assist in writing rework and repair procedures.
- Compile and complete quality documentation required for product delivery
- Address and resolve any customer complaints or customer-detected nonconformances. Investigate nonconformances and drive closure to Root Cause/Corrective Actions.
- Ensure compliance to quality system standard and communicate requirements and changes to all personnel.
- Interface with supply base to ensure compliance to all drawing and specification requirements.
- Issue CARs for supply base nonconformances.
- Review customer contracts to ensure flow-down of applicable quality requirements to supply base.
- Review customer contracts to ensure customer and industry specifications are on file and are current revision.
- Review internal job routers and procedures to ensure customer requirements are captured.
- Review supplier conformance certifications to ensure compliance to customer requirements.
- Create inspection plans for parts with assistance from process engineering.
- Ensure we have all gauging and inspection equipment to inspect parts per created inspection plans
- Complete Quality Management System internal audits.
- Work with all departments to ensure compliance to all import and export laws and regulations.
- Perform other duties and specific projects as assigned.
- Utilize basic measurement devices (micrometer, caliper, dial indicator, etc.)
- Computer knowledge – Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint; MS Project preferred.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree from a college or university in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering or 5 years related experience in quality engineering or supply chain management.
Work Experience
- Demonstrated experience in embracing and implementing Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement programs.
- Experience in a Quality Improvement Role.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading and interpreting specifications.
- Strong working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality Operations.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Experience using basic measurement devices (i.e. micrometer, caliper, dial indicator, etc).
- Extreme attention to detail, organized, and accurate.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively handle shifting and multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
- Computer knowledge – Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- CMM experience desirable.
- Experience with JobBoss, Discus, uniPoint and Minitab is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Government/military or aerospace manufacturing experience
- Six Sigma or equivalent Quality training
- Familiar with AS9100 or similar quality system standard
