The Program Aide (PA) plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the residential program, ensuring the safety, structure, and therapeutic engagement of clients. Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the PA facilitates client activities, monitors behavior, provides transportation, and ensures adherence to program rules and schedules. This position requires strong observational skills and the ability to respond effectively to client needs and emergencies. The PA serves as a critical liaison between residential and clinical teams to maintain a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment.
Schedule: 12:00 AM - 12:00 PM
FT and PT Available: Full-time: 3, 12-hour shifts per week; Part-Time: 1-2 shifts per week
Job Duties:
- Facilitates clients daily activities in residential treatment facility.
- Overnight bed checks.
- General house maintenance.
- Transports clients to and from necessary appointments.
- Observes and monitors clients behavior and intervenes based on schedule, individual clients treatment plan, and house needs.
- Facilitates assigned groups/meetings/activities per program schedule.
- Documents observations / milieu interventions in client records.
- Coordinates milieu treatment with counseling staff (via client record, staff communication, and counseling/residential interface meeting).
- Writes shift log (including check in and check out as well as a summary of the shift events)
- Provides transportation to and supervision of clients at community 12-step meetings per program schedule.
- Transports clients per supervisor's directives (for court, ancillary services, etc.).
- Ensures transportation safety by conducting van inspections and following safety rules.
- Supervises self-administration of client of client medications (only after provided with appropriate training).
- Ensures physical plant safety and security by conducting regular house checks, fire drills, and disaster drills per policy and procedure.
- Orientation of new clients to house rules.
- Conducts check-in to residence with new clients including search of items brought to facility and lock-up of contraband and medications.
- One-on-one supervision of at-risk clients (ATA risk; suicidal ideation, etc.) per directive from Program Director or Operations Manager.
- Follows emergency procedures exactly (including following paging protocol, following directives given exactly, transportation, etc.).
- Supports aftercare component by facilitating aftercare groups (when assigned).
- Conducts UA drug screen collection when directed, following appropriate procedures.
- Participates in staff trainings.
- Attends either the Wednesday or Thursday staffing meeting at 10:30am.
- Other duties as assigned by PA Supervisor, Operations Manager and Program Director.
Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a drug screening and live-scan background check.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Valid Drivers License Required.
- Three 12 hour shifts are considered full-time - We have both full-time and part-time positions open.
- Able to work at the Malibu and Thousand Oaks location. Location placement is based on the company's needs, and new employees should be willing/able to work at both of the locations.
Qualifications:
- Entry-level position.
- Knowledge of 12-step recovery principles (preferred).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must pass a drug screening and live-scan background check.
- Willingness to work at both Malibu and Thousand Oaks locations as needed.
- Comfortable working in a structured environment with adolescents.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations.
- Must complete required training and competency exam prior to starting.
