Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Director of IT for a rapidly growing, innovation-driven organization operating within a highly regulated, security-sensitive, and data-centric industry, focused on delivering advanced data-driven solutions. This a full time, direct hire hybrid leadership role is based in the Eastern or Central time zones (Midwest and Southeast U.S. preferred), with periodic travel to key operational hubs in the Southwest and Midwest.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director of IT will provide executive oversight of Infrastructure, Security, Applications, Data/Analytics, and DevOps, with a strong emphasis on infrastructure resilience, cybersecurity maturity, modernization, and enterprise data strategy. This leader will operate in a true player-coach capacity, setting technical direction while remaining actively engaged in execution across a hybrid technology environment spanning on-premises infrastructure and Microsoft Azure, supporting applications built primarily in Python and C#. The role will be instrumental in advancing platform modernization, strengthening security posture, and leading enterprise data aggregation initiatives that support long-term scalability and AI-readiness.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and oversee enterprise Infrastructure, Security, Data/Analytics, Applications, and DevOps, ensuring scalable and resilient systems
- Drive hybrid infrastructure strategy across on-prem data center and Microsoft Azure environments, prioritizing reliability, performance, and security
- Strengthen cybersecurity posture, governance, and compliance practices within a regulated environment
- Spearhead enterprise data aggregation, reporting, and analytics initiatives to enable strategic decision-making and future AI integration
- Lead major platform modernization efforts, including legacy codebase transformation and architectural redesign
- Mentor and develop technical leaders while evaluating and optimizing team structure to improve execution and operational discipline
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 8–10 years of progressive IT leadership experience with enterprise-level ownership
- Deep expertise in infrastructure architecture (on-prem and Azure hybrid environments)
- Demonstrated leadership in cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and regulatory compliance
- Proven success leading modernization initiatives and legacy platform transformations
- Strong experience building and executing enterprise data and analytics strategies
- Experience leading globally distributed technical teams
- Leads by example with a hands-on, execution-driven approach and strong ownership mindset.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This role offers a competitive executive-level compensation package commensurate with experience, including base salary of $240-280k/yr+ (DOE), an annual bonus and their full benefit offerings including medical, dental, and vision coverage; retirement plan with employer contribution; paid time off and holidays; and additional wellness-focused programs designed to support professional and personal well-being.
