Summit City Steel is growing and we need foremen who know how to run a crew. We’re a Midwest-based steel erection company running structural steel and metal building projects across IN, MI, IL, and OH. Our foremen are working leaders — you’re on the iron with your guys, not sitting in a truck. If you can lead from the front, manage production, and keep your crew safe, we want to talk.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead a crew of 4–10 on structural steel erection and/or metal building installation
- Execute the daily plan from the Superintendent/PM: means, methods, sequencing, and priorities
- Hands-on work alongside your crew — setting steel, rigging, connecting, siding, roofing, trim, and accessories
- Run daily stretch-and-flex, task briefings, and hazard assessments
- Manage crew productivity: assign tasks, stage materials, keep the work moving
- Maintain Procore daily logs, timesheets, and job photos
- Identify problems early, communicate solutions up, and keep your area safe and organized
- Mentor and develop your crew — the guys who work under you should be getting better
WHAT YOU BRING
- 3–5+ years in steel erection or metal building work; prior crew leadership preferred
- Solid understanding of structural steel, PEMB systems, rigging, cranes, and fall protection
- Can read erection drawings, anchor bolt plans, and basic project specs
- Strong work ethic — you lead by example and your crew respects you for it
- OSHA 10 or 30 preferred; rigging/signaling certs a plus
