Vice President, IT Infrastructure (Banking)
Hands-On Enterprise Server & Data Center Leadership
A mid-sized financial institution is seeking a technically hands-on VP of IT Infrastructure to lead enterprise server, virtualization, and data center operations in a regulated banking environment.
This is a working leadership role — you will manage a small engineering team while remaining deeply involved in architecture, engineering decisions, and complex escalations.
This is a full-time direct hire role working hybrid onsite 2-3 days per week in Midtown Manhattan with an organization that offers competitive compensation, the salary range for the role is $150,000-165,000 per year, an annual bonus, and a great benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
- Own infrastructure strategy, architecture, and multi-year modernization roadmap.
- Provide 3rd-level engineering oversight across:
- Windows Server (2016+), Active Directory, Group Policy, PowerShell
- VMware ESXi / vSphere / HCI
- Storage, backup, and replication (Veeam, NetBackup, Backup Exec)
- Cisco UCS, Exchange, DNS, and core identity services
- Oversee on-prem and co-location data centers, disaster recovery, and continuity planning.
- Lead infrastructure projects, upgrades, and migrations — on time and within budget.
- Direct vendor relationships, contracts, SLAs, and third-party risk management.
- Ensure configuration, asset, inventory, and license governance.
- Maintain compliance with OCC and FFIEC regulatory expectations.
- Support audits, regulatory exams, and executive reporting.
Requirements
- 8+ years progressive IT infrastructure experience with strong enterprise server depth.
- 3+ years leading infrastructure teams and managing vendors/MSPs.
- Experience in banking or highly regulated financial environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in data center operations, virtualization, and enterprise server architecture.
- Strong understanding of IT controls, audit readiness, and regulatory standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
- Cisco and/or Microsoft certifications preferred.
Ideal Profile: A technically credible infrastructure leader who is equally comfortable mentoring engineers, handling regulatory issues, and architecting resilient, scalable banking infrastructure.
