Position Description
You will serve as the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) Chief Engineer. The Secretary of War has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
- You will serve as the senior engineer at NAWCWD providing continuity of technical leadership and oversight needed to ensure long-term stewardship of NAWCWD’s technical capabilities, and support NAWCWD’s strategic goals and NAVAIR Commander’s intent.
- You will provide policy direction, oversight, and assessment for NAWCWD engineering and product management communities.
- You will be the principal advisor to the NAWCWD Commander, Executive Director, NAWCWD Executives, Technical Director, and other senior leaders on matters pertaining to technical readiness and execution of NAWCWD programs and projects.
- You will ensure NAWCWD’s development activities and mission operations plan execute with a sound engineering basis with proper controls and management of technical risk.
- You will serve as the NAVAIR Deputy Warranting Officer on behalf of the NAWCWD Executive Director and Commander.
