Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Longmont, CO (Full-time, On-site)
Overview
Electrom Instruments is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented and hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to lead the efforts to improve our manufacturing processes and quality management and control. This role focuses on optimizing production processes, improving product quality, and increasing efficiency through data-driven analysis and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate enjoys working closely with the production team, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical manufacturing issues, and translating engineering intent into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes to support efficient, repeatable, and high-quality production.
- Create and maintain work instructions, process flows, assembly documentation, and manufacturing test procedures.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements related to productivity, yield, quality, and cost reduction.
- Define, track, and analyze key manufacturing metrics (failures in productions, failures in the field, warranty issues, output, yield, rework, scrap, etc.).
- Lead effort to identify root causes of quality or process issues in production and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering team to improve product manufacturability and support new product introduction.
- Specify, design, or recommend fixtures, tooling, and equipment to improve production consistency and efficiency.
- Champion quality initiatives including corrective and preventive actions and continuous improvement efforts.
- Assist with capacity planning, production layout optimization, and workflow improvements.
- Provide technical training and support to production personnel as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred. 3–7 years of experience in a manufacturing process or engineering role, preferably in manufacturing of electronics or instrumentation. Alternatively, Associate’s degree in Electronics, or related field with 10 years’ experience in instrumentation or electronics manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing principles, and quality systems.
- Experience creating process documentation, work instructions, and production metrics.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing data analysis.
- Hands-on, practical problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively on the production floor and with management level co-workers.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across management, engineering, quality, and production teams.
- Proven ability to take charge of and champion projects.
- Commitment to meeting deadlines with ability and willingness to work additional hours, when necessary.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 per year (depending on education, experience and technical knowledge)
