Ferguson Brothers Excavating, an excavation company that values high-quality work, good relationships, and a family like work environment, is currently accepting applications for a full-time ESTIMATOR / PROJECT MANAGER for our COMMERICAL PROJECTS.
The ideal candidate will have experience with all facets of grading, excavating, underground utilities and other construction types of projects. This position is a mix of estimating and project management related tasks. The ideal candidate would be respectful, self-motivated and an experienced individual who shares our passion for the building industry we serve. Drug and alcohol testing will be done prior to 1st day of work.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Obtain plans for bidding and determine scope of work
- Identify and contact potential subcontractors
- Accurately and timely completion of quantity take-offs and estimates for jobs of all types of grading and excavating projects
- Write bid proposals for small and medium excavating and other types of excavating projects
- Establish relationships with as many potential bidders as possible
- Maintain current material and subcontractor pricing
- Participate in plan and specifications reviews
- Effectively manage and control the bidding process
- Provide upper management with reports on bids won/lost
- Responsible for running multiple projects from start to finish
- Create and manage schedules, manpower, pricing, vendors, and customers during all projects
- Maintain relationships with current clients
- Manage crews and subcontractors on all projects
- Create a dynamic work environment with the potential responsibility of building the departmentPrepare the bid for submission
- Lead external and internal Pre-Con meetings
- Produce and regularly update project schedules
- Identify and negotiate change orders with clients and engineers
- Monthly reporting of anticipated change order and projected costs to create accurate profitability forecasts
- Cultivate new client relationships and maximize current client relationships
- Prioritization of daily activities while working towards strategic goals
Job Qualifications:
- 4-5 years minimum Project Management experience
- Proven ability to read and understand all types of take offs, blueprints plans and specifications
- Experience using estimating software: Bluebeam, AGTEK, Timberline, Civil 3D, HCSS (HeavyBid & HeavyJob), MS Project
- Verifiable experience using Microsoft Office Products which include Excel, Word and Outlook is required
- Demonstrated success at forecasting material, equipment, and manpower
- Knowledge of and experience in total site prep with site development, land clearing, grading, and excavating and other types of construction projects is required
- Leadership by Example with positive, hardworking, can-do attitude
- Proven math abilities with creative problem-solving abilities
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- Clean driving record with a current and valid driver’s license
- Associates or Trade School Certification or equivalent work experience
- Highly motivated and a willingness to learn
- Ability to work individually and in team settings
- Post-secondary education in construction or engineering related disciplines a plus

- Generally Monday to Friday w/ some Saturdays possible
- Seasonal work w/ option for year-round work depending on work load and skill

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 65 per week
