Qualifications

Associates’s Degree or higher preferred
Valid Georgia Driver’s License. CDL preferred.
3 to 5 years of experience in a leadership role is preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in pupil transportation or related fields is preferred. Ability to work with Superintendent, Directors, Principals, Certified Staff, Classified Staff, Pupils, Parents, Local Agencies, and the Community

JOB GOAL: To organize, staff, and supervise the transportation department in order to effectively and efficiently provide transportation services for Fannin County Schools.

Performance Responsibilities

Plan, administer, and manage the overall operation of the transportation department.
Regular and punctual attendance required; full compliance with FCSS sick leave and personal leave policies.
Maintain a courteous, helpful, cooperative attitude with all transportation personnel, bus drivers, other board personnel, and the general public.
Keep Board related business confidential at all times.
Cooperate fully with school administrators and staff relating to student behaviors and physical management of students.
Supervise a transportation program to meet all the requirements of the daily instructional program and extra curricular activities.
Prepare an emergency plan for transporting students during the school day in case of adverse weather and other situations.
Prepare and update bus schedules for all schools in the system.
Cooperate with the State Department of Education on certification of mechanics and bus drivers.
Makes annual recommendations for budget needs and improvements.
Coordinates and implements drug/ alcohol test for CDL holders / familiar with Federal Laws and Reasonable Suspicion.
Supervise the preparation of transportation payroll on a monthly basis.
Make purchases in accordance with budgetary limitations and system guidelines.
Investigate road hazards during inclement weather and keep the Superintendent informed.
Demonstrate ability to mediate parent/student and teacher complaints relative to transportation issues.
Participate in parent/ student conferences in an effort to resolve or prevent misconduct and unsafe conditions that involve the transportation system.
Recruit and recommend the employment of all transportation personnel.
Establish and maintain an effective public relations program designed to promote understanding and support for the district’s transportation program. Serve as the district program administrator for the Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Program.
Attend school board meetings and make presentations relating to transportation and or safety issues as assigned.
Establish all regular and special need bus routes, schedules and stops; include route maps for drivers and schools
Work with personnel to implement route and schedule changes; continually evaluate bus routes and bus stops for maximum safety and cost effectiveness.
Ensure all state reports are completed accurately and forwarded to the appropriate department in a timely manner.
Investigate all bus related traffic accidents.
Maintain credentials to operate system owned vehicles as required for the position.
Participate in ongoing professional development.
Maintain prompt and in person attendance.
Assume other reasonable and job related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
