Infection Prevention Professional
Location: Titusville, FL
Compensation: $40–$45 per hour
Reports To: Quality Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Infection Prevention Professional to lead and support our infection prevention and control program in Titusville, Florida. This role is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of infectious and communicable diseases, as well as the development, implementation, and evaluation of infection prevention strategies that meet regulatory and nationally recognized standards.
The Infection Prevention Professional serves as a subject matter expert, providing education and guidance to clinical and non-clinical care partners, supporting employee health initiatives, coordinating infection prevention committees, and driving quality improvement efforts across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform ongoing surveillance, data collection, analysis, and reporting of infectious and communicable diseases
- Identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for intervention
- Develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention practices using industry best practices
- Serve as a subject matter expert in infection prevention for clinical and non-clinical staff
- Provide education, consultation, and training across all departments
- Compile and present dashboard reports for Medical Staff, Nursing, and multidisciplinary committees
- Participate in development and revision of infection prevention policies and procedures
- Enter required data into State and National databases
- Assess organizational education needs and develop targeted curricula
- Conduct infection prevention, safety, environmental, and interdisciplinary rounds, including:
- PPE compliance, hand hygiene, cleaning and disinfection
- Construction and water management safety
- Biohazardous waste and room pressure monitoring
- Invasive device management
- Lead and participate in performance improvement initiatives related to HAIs, hand hygiene, device-associated infections, and surgical site infections
- Complete annual reviews and updates of the Infection Control and Prevention Plan for PMC
- Coordinate and facilitate the Infection Control and Prevention Committee
- Prepare and submit timely reports to external agencies
- Investigate suspected infection outbreaks and lead mitigation efforts
- Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities
- Maintain knowledge of fire, disaster, and safety procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Preferred fields: Epidemiology, Nursing, Public Health, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related healthcare field
- Nursing background preferred; active or inactive nursing license welcome but not required
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in infection prevention, epidemiology, quality, or healthcare
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) – REQUIRED
- Must be clearly listed on resume
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
