This leadership role provides strategic oversight and hands-on guidance to engineering teams across multiple renewable energy projects. The Director, Engineering will manage project planning, design, construction, and operational performance for national-scale energy assets, ensuring timely delivery, high quality, and continuous innovation. This position requires collaboration across departments, from business development to operations, while fostering the professional growth of junior engineers. The role combines technical expertise, operational management, and strategic decision-making in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Accountabilities
- Lead, mentor, and provide daily guidance to junior engineers across all project phases
- Prioritize and oversee activities for 100+ projects, ensuring accurate documentation and on-time deliverables
- Manage employee performance, recruiting, mentoring, and professional development initiatives
- Oversee creation, refinement, and quality assurance of all technical deliverables, tools, systems, and processes
- Develop and distribute reports, dashboards, and KPIs to track project progress, workloads, and system performance
- Drive innovation in predictive modeling, AI, and cloud computing, collaborating with internal technology teams
- Make strategic decisions on trade partners, supply deals, and process improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure alignment and clarity in offerings and project execution
- Monitor energy performance metrics for built and acquired systems, supporting continuous improvement and risk mitigation strategies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; professional certifications desired
- 8+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, ideally within the renewable energy sector
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously, with strong organizational and scheduling skills
- Technical authority and experience managing construction codes, AHJ relationships, contractor negotiations, and risk mitigation
- Demonstrated success in process development, change management, and implementation of management systems
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with senior management and cross-functional teams
- Collaborative, results-driven, and highly motivated with executive presence and strong problem-solving skills
- Flexible to work remotely, on-site, or hybrid as required
