Senior Manager, Operations Engineering
Location: Methuen, MA (On-site Manufacturing Facility)
Compensation: Up to $175K base + 7% bonus potential
Gabriele & Company, recruiters for manufacturing and supply chain professionals, is working with a leading innovator in smart, solar-powered IoT manufacturing that seeks a hands-on Senior Manager of Operations Engineering to lead supplier engineering, quality systems, and production engineering functions. This role drives operational excellence across a New England manufacturing facility and supplier network while enabling new product introductions and supporting continued growth.

What You'll Lead
Supplier Engineering
- Oversee vendor qualification, performance monitoring, and improvement initiatives for mechanical, electrical, and solar component suppliers
- Manage supplier development programs focused on quality, delivery, and cost optimization
- Conduct supplier audits, lead corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement
- Support dual-sourcing and diversification strategies to strengthen supply chain resilience
Quality Engineering
- Implement quality systems, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and suppliers
- Oversee ISO and regulatory system implementations and compliance
- Manage root-cause analysis and CAPA programs for production and field issues
- Drive reliability testing and design-for-manufacturing/quality practices
- Track and report key quality metrics (first-pass yield, supplier defect rates, field failures, warranty claims)
Production/Manufacturing Engineering
- Direct production engineering team on assembly line design, process optimization, and tooling/fixture development
- Lead lean manufacturing initiatives to increase throughput, reduce waste, and improve ergonomics and safety
- Partner with Manufacturing to troubleshoot production issues and support on-time delivery
- Support new product launches and scaling at the facility
Leadership & Strategy
- Build and mentor a high-performing cross-functional engineering team (quality, production, supplier engineering)
- Translate strategic objectives into tactical plans improving quality, cost, delivery, and capacity
- Collaborate with Product, Supply Chain, and Operations to achieve corporate goals
- Manage department budgets, staffing plans, and capital projects
What You Bring
- Bachelor's in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master's preferred)
- 20+ years in manufacturing/operations engineering with 3–5 years leading teams
- Proven experience managing vendor/supplier engineering, quality systems, and production process improvement
- Background leading teams in mixed electromechanical production environments (solar systems, electronics, IoT products, or similar)
- Deep knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong data-driven decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- ERP/MRP experience and familiarity with ISO 9001 or comparable standards preferred
The Environment
You'll report to the Plant Manager and oversee teams in quality, engineering, production line, and warehouse. Occasional regional travel within New England is required. The company offers an excellent culture with a nurturing environment for people who want to thrive.
