As a Project Manager you are a visible leader within the company who is expected to exemplify the values and guiding principles of the company while pursuing the mission statement with absolute ownership. You will perform duties associated with estimating and managing heavy highway construction projects for state, county and local municipalities. This position supports the field operations team, and the Operations Manager supports this position.
Role and Responsibilities:
· Prepare cost estimates to construct heavy highway projects in accordance with the associated plans and specifications
· Review and select subcontractors and material suppliers who will help provide the most efficient team to construct heavy highway projects
· Proactively meet with project owners to discuss schedule, issues that arise and all other aspects of the project that require communication
· Coordinate and schedule labor needs with the rest of the operations team
· Coordinate and schedule equipment needs with the rest of the operations team and the equipment management team
· Coordinate and schedule material needs with selected suppliers as well as all associated material testing needs
· Coordinate and schedule subcontractor activities
· Review and approve crew timesheets to ensure that labor and equipment costs are accurately accounted for in the correct cost codes, that quantities are properly tracked and that important notes are properly being recorded in the diary
· Review and approve invoices to ensure that job costs are accurately accounted for in the correct cost codes
· Monitor job costs and review and discuss with Operations Manager and Job Superintendents to identify opportunities to gain efficiency
· Create, track and review pay estimates and change orders from the project owner to ensure timely and accurate pay for items of work completed, contract adjustments, and contract incentives and disincentives
· Support the field operations team to ensure that they are successful in their job duties
· Assist the rest of the project management team in performing annual evaluations for the field superintendents to reinforce jobs well done and to constructively identify tasks to improve upon
· Work closely with the safety department to ensure that all projects are constructed in a safety conscious environment
· Work to proactively mitigate risks that the company may have exposure to through good communication, proper planning, good use of company resources and excellent documentation

· Safety conscious
· Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
· 5+ years in Heavy Highway Construction, preferred
· Proficient in Microsoft 365
· Ability to work individually and as a team
· Ability to coordinate several major activities at once while analyzing and resolving specific problems
· Strong human relation skills and knowledge to deal effectively with internal staff, subcontractors, owners, and a wide variety of diverse groups from the community
· Ability to project an image of excellence, professionalism, and leadership
· High level of written and oral communication skills
· Ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with project owners and clients
