OVERVIEW
*Position is in Hopkinsville Kentucky, preference given to candidate with forge stamping press and manufacturing machinery experience.
The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating various engineering projects throughout the facility. Develops and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, and parts, production equipment capabilities and quality control standards. Position is very hands-on. Confers with vendors to determine product specification and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts. This position is hands-on.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Manage various capital projects through establishment of equipment specifications and managing vendor activities.
· Provide technical support to maintenance, safety and production associates.
· Provide work instructions (process control standards) for the manufacturing processes.
· Apply sound engineering practices and procedures in making revisions to equipment or manufacturing processes.
· Stay abreast of new technology as it related to the product and manufacturing processes.
· Keep project list and review weekly with Supervisor.
· Availability for off shift support if required; some weekends may be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:
· Improves Production Downtimes by trend tracking, review data, and implementing corrective actions.
· Improves Scrap and Rework reduction initiatives by trend tracking, review and analysis of data, and implementing corrective actions.
· Improves Production Efficiencies by analyzing workflow, cycle times, layouts, etc.
· Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services. Effectiveness tracked through downtime.
· Completes design and development projects by training and documenting training of technicians and operators.
· Maintains Safe working environment by participating in Safety Initiatives – Safety Program Owner.
· Maintains Environmental standard ISO9001:2015 by participating in Environmental Initiatives.
· Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
· Maintain equipment readiness by working with maintenance during shutdown time. Planning shutdown and execution of plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.
- Bachelor's Degree from a college or university in Engineering or related field; or, equivalent experience comparable to degree.
- Forge stamping press and manufacturing machinery experience preferred.
- Electrical application experience preferred.
- Project management experience helpful.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in the use of the computer.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards related to manufacturing, preferred.
