Mechanical Engineer
Urbana, IL (12-Month Contract)
About the Role:
We’re seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and support mechanical systems for advanced aviation flight simulators. In this role, you’ll create 3D models in SolidWorks, interpret aircraft manuals, and work closely with cross-functional teams to bring simulator designs from concept to production. If you enjoy hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and seeing your designs come to life, this role is for you!
What You’ll Do:
- Design and update 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks
- Interpret aircraft manuals and technical data for simulator systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve design or assembly issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and production teams
- Source and qualify components with vendors
- Support product assembly and testing on the shop floor
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 1–5 years of mechanical design experience
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Hands-on experience with tools and mechanical assemblies
Work Environment:
- Office and manufacturing floor settings
- Light physical work (occasional lifting up to 50 lbs)
