Job description:

S. B. Ballard Construction Company, a leading General Contractor/Construction Manager servicing the Mid-Atlantic region, headquartered in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team in Virginia Beach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements
Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications
Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
Develop conceptual, preliminary, and final estimates during design development
Identify cost-saving alternatives and value engineering options
Assemble complete bid proposals and pricing summaries
Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier bids
Collaborate and reconcile scopes with other members of the estimating team
Ensure bids comply with project requirements, scope, and deadlines
Participate in bid reviews and clarifications
Identify potential risks, constructability issues, and scope gaps
Prepare reports for management and clients
Compare estimated vs. actual costs for continuous improvement
Support negotiations during contract award
Assist with client presentation preparation

Qualifications and Experience:

Proven experience and knowledge of construction estimating, means and methods, accounting, and document administration
Thorough understanding of construction industry materials and practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Experience with On Screen Take-off (OST)
Experience with Bluebeam
LEED certification is preferred but not required
DBIA certification is preferred but not required
Some periodic travel may be required

Current focus on eligible candidates residing within commuting distance of our Virginia Beach office.

Design Build and CM@Risk Projects: 5 years (Preferred)
On Screen Take Off (OST): 5 years (Preferred)

Primavera P6: 5 years (Preferred)
Bluebeam: 5 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:
