Position Summary

The Project Manager – Real Estate Development is responsible for leading and coordinating commercial development projects for Tamaya Ventures, a tribally owned economic development organization of the Pueblo of Santa Ana. This position manages all phases of the real estate development process—from planning and feasibility through design, construction, and completion—ensuring projects align with the Pueblo’s economic vision and Tamaya Ventures’ strategic goals.

The Project Manager serves as the key liaison between internal departments, external consultants, contractors, and tribal leadership to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable tribal, federal, and state regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Manage multiple commercial projects concurrently from conception through completion.

· Develop and oversee project scopes, budgets, schedules, and delivery strategies to ensure on-time and on-budget execution.

· Conduct and coordinate feasibility studies, due diligence, and site evaluations, including zoning, environmental, and infrastructure requirements.

· Collaborate with the CEO to prepare and manage RFPs/RFQs for various construction improvement and maintenance projects, and participate in the selection and negotiation of professional service agreements.

· Oversee design, permitting, construction, and closeout phases, ensuring quality standards and regulatory compliance.

· Coordinate with Tribal departments to ensure alignment with the Pueblo’s land use, environmental, and infrastructure requirements.

· Maintain accurate documentation including contracts, permits, meeting notes, and financial reports.

· Review project budgets, progress payments, change orders, and invoices in coordination with accounting.

· Provide regular updates, progress reports, and presentations to the company leadership & tribal stakeholders.

· Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with TERO (Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance) and procurement policies.

· Identify risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies throughout the project life cycle.

· Support strategic planning, asset management, and future development initiatives to advance Tamaya Ventures’ mission.

· Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership or the Board of Directors to ensure effective operations and alignment with organizational objectives.

· Education and Experience Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Real Estate Development, Architecture, Business Administration, or related field required.

· Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project management within real estate development, commercial construction, or related industries.

· Experience working with tribal entities, tribally owned enterprises, or Native American communities strongly preferred.

· Demonstrated understanding of tribal sovereignty, TERO compliance, and federal grant or funding requirements is highly desirable.

· Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

· Excellent understanding of design, construction, procurement, and development processes.

· Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including the ability to interact with executives, board members, and tribal leaders.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project) and project management software.

· Strong analytical, budgeting, and contract management capabilities.

· Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence and coordinate cross-functional teams.

· Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions.

Working Conditions

· Primarily office-based at the Tamaya Ventures corporate office with frequent site visits to project locations.

· Occasional travel may be required for vendor meetings, conferences, or site inspections.

· May require evening or weekend work based on project deadlines.

Licenses and Certifications

· Valid New Mexico Driver’s License and insurable under Tamaya Ventures’ insurance policy.

· Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

· OSHA 30, LEED Accreditation, or equivalent construction-related certifications desirable.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
