Mechanical Engineer

Urbana, IL (12-Month Contract)

About the Role:

We’re seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and support mechanical systems for advanced aviation flight simulators. In this role, you’ll create 3D models in SolidWorks, interpret aircraft manuals, and work closely with cross-functional teams to bring simulator designs from concept to production. If you enjoy hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and seeing your designs come to life, this role is for you!

What You’ll Do:

Design and update 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks
Interpret aircraft manuals and technical data for simulator systems
Troubleshoot and resolve design or assembly issues
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and production teams
Source and qualify components with vendors
Support product assembly and testing on the shop floor

What We’re Looking For:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
1–5 years of mechanical design experience
Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Hands-on experience with tools and mechanical assemblies

Work Environment:

Office and manufacturing floor settings
Light physical work (occasional lifting up to 50 lbs)
