Position Summary

Our client is creating a new role: Warehouse & Inventory Manager. They have strong coverage on the front end (Procurement) and back end (Shipping). This position “connects the dots” in the middle—owning inventory accuracy, material organization, warehouse flow, and cross-functional communication to keep production running smoothly.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Inventory Control & Accuracy

Own day-to-day inventory control for raw materials, WIP (work-in-process), and finished goods—ensuring accurate counts and clean locations.
Establish and run a cycle count program, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat issues.
Maintain inventory integrity through clear processes for receiving, stocking, issuing, returns, scrap, and adjustments.
Partner with Procurement and Production to ensure correct min/max levels, reorder points, and accurate demand signals.

Warehouse Organization & Material Flow

Organize warehouse layout for speed, safety, and accuracy (5S mindset), including bin/location standards and labeling.
Optimize material movement: receiving → put-away → staging → production → finished goods → shipping.
Create/maintain staging processes that keep production supplied and reduce downtime.
Improve space utilization and reduce “search time,” congestion, and unnecessary handling.

Receiving, Coordination & Cross-Functional Communication

Coordinate closely with Procurement on incoming materials, vendor issues, lead times, substitutions, and quality concerns.
Coordinate closely with Shipping on finished goods readiness, packaging availability, staging, and loading schedules.
Communicate proactively with Production/Operations about shortages, constraints, and priorities.
Drive strong handoffs between teams—this role is a hub for operational alignment.

Systems & Continuous Improvement (Big Growth Opportunity)

Lead the transition from paper-based tracking to a more scalable solution (could be inventory software, ERP module, barcoding, etc.).
Document standard work (SOPs), train users, and build simple reporting (inventory status, shortages, turns, accuracy).
Identify waste and implement practical improvements—right-sized for a small company (not “corporate bureaucracy”).

Safety, Compliance & Equipment

Promote a safety-first culture in the warehouse; ensure safe storage and handling practices.
Oversee warehouse equipment and supplies (racks, carts, forklifts/pallet jacks as applicable); coordinate maintenance needs.
Maintain orderly, audit-ready warehouse standards.
