With 12 locations across the eastern United States, we cater to a range of industries such as manufacturing, construction, and fabrication. Our extensive inventory includes carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and specialty alloys in various forms such as sheets, plates, tubing, and structural shapes.

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our Pittsburgh Division (Carnegie, PA) with excellence. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the steel service center, ensuring seamless coordination across multiple departments. Your leadership will encompass warehouse operations activities, including production, safety, quality assurance, shipping, and maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Drive a strong safety culture in conformance with company and regulatory standards
Lead all warehouse operations including receiving, processing, inventory control, and shipping to ensure safe, efficient material flow
Oversee processing equipment and labor scheduling to meet delivery commitments while optimizing yield and controlling scrap
Maintain inventory accuracy, traceability, and optimal stock levels to support service and cash flow objectives
Manage fleet operations, freight costs, DOT compliance, and on-time delivery performance
Drive financial performance by controlling operating expenses, protecting gross margin, and improving KPIs (OTIF, order accuracy, throughput, scrap, labor cost, inventory turns, freight costs)
Ensure all preventive maintenance for trucks and equipment is up-to-date, maintenance plans are followed, and that proper record-keeping is maintained
Train, coach, and develop team members

Qualifications

Required:

3-5 years of experience in warehouse management
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word)
Experience with operational planning and process optimization
Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment
Strong organizational skills
Problem solving/conflict resolution skills
Experience with production machines (burn tables, shears and saws) and trucks and maintenance requirements for each
Experience with various regulations (environmental, safety, etc.) required for this type of work environment

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree
5-7 years of experience in warehouse management
Experience in the metals service center industry, machining or manufacturing
Understanding of ISO policies, procedures, and work instructions
