We’re looking for someone who knows truckload freight inside and out—and is ready to step out of the daily brokerage grind and take full ownership of transportation for a growing metals operation.

This role is based out of our East End Louisville headquarters, overseeing freight across multiple facilities:

Primary focus: Outbound finished aluminum coil to customers
Secondary/back-up support: Inbound and outbound non-ferrous/ferrous scrap from our three scrap yards

If you’ve spent time in a brokerage managing loads, pricing lanes, and dealing with daily chaos—this is your chance to control the network instead of chasing it.

What You’ll Own

Daily truckload execution (primarily van freight, some flatbed)
Build and manage a core carrier network (reduce spot market dependence)
Negotiate rates and manage lane pricing across key markets
Coordinate closely with plant operations and yard teams
Improve on-time delivery, cost per load, and load planning efficiency
Use brokers strategically (not as a crutch)
Manage claims, service issues, and continuous improvement

What Success Looks Like

Fewer last-minute “scramble” loads
Strong, reliable carrier relationships
Measurable reduction in freight cost per lb / ton
Improved on-time delivery performance
Clear visibility into lanes, pricing, and capacity
3–8+ years in truckload brokerage, carrier sales, or transportation management
Strong understanding of OTR van freight (flatbed a plus)
Experience pricing lanes, sourcing capacity, and negotiating with carriers
Ability to operate independently and make real-time decisions
