Our client is seeking a hands-on, operationally driven Director of External Manufacturing to lead execution across a complex global third-party manufacturing network within a highly regulated medical device environment.

This is a newly created role, designed to strengthen infrastructure, elevate operational rigor, and build scalable processes across a global spend portfolio supporting more than 100 external manufacturing partners and 2,000+ components.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in medical device manufacturing and has successfully managed multiple CMOs simultaneously—operating at both the site and strategic levels.

This leader will own the operational performance of a global network of third-party manufacturers, ensuring execution excellence across supply continuity, quality, cost, and delivery.

Key areas of focus include:

Managing and optimizing a broad CMO network (100+ vendors).
Driving site-level execution and performance accountability.
Overseeing external production for both commercial and NPI programs.
Strengthening operational infrastructure, reporting, and governance.
Rationalizing and cleansing an extensive 3PM/parts portfolio (2,000+ SKUs).
Partnering closely with Engineering, R&D, Planning, and Strategic Sourcing.
Challenging vendor performance at the plant level, not just contractually.
Building and developing a growing team, global in scope.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The organization is evolving, and this individual will help shape the future-state operating model for external manufacturing.

*Please note. Ideal location for this role is New Jersey, however there is an option for remote with travel.
