Job Summary

The Cattle Buyer is responsible for understanding the systems of feedlots, slaughterhouses, and farms and facilitating smooth cattle purchasing. Therefore, we are seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:

Key Duties

1. Deep understanding of the cattle market and the ability to evaluate the quality and condition of cattle and make informed purchasing decisions.

2. Ability to negotiate prices and terms with sellers to secure the best possible deal.

3. Ability to participate in other aspects of the livestock industry, including transportation, logistics, marketing, and meat sales.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in animal science, agronomy, agricultural business, or related field (preferred).

• 3-5 years of experience in livestock buying, ranch management, or cattle raising.

• Driver's license.

Skills & Abilities

• In-depth knowledge of cattle breeds, body size, feeding, and health assessment.

• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

• Proven track record of building and maintaining positive industry relationships.

• Excellent analytical and record-keeping skills.

• Ability to travel frequently and work flexible hours.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors and in a livestock handling environment.
